I tried out Adobe's NEw Video Generative AI Extend feature

You can now extend certain video clips for an additional 2 seconds and audio clips up to 10 seconds by updating to Ver. 25.2. A real game changer for holding clips a little longer or extending a shot.

You can test it out with Free Generations until June 4th.

This is the 1st iteration of it so it has limitations but nonetheless, AI tools are finally on their way!

Notes:

  • It will give an initial error when trying to extend 4K footage, but just restart Premiere and it'll work. Fix coming.
  • It says it can only AI extend 8-bit footage with 12-30fps in SDR, but I have used it on Sony 4:2:2 10-bit. It won't work on 60fps clips (for now) so you have to Render & Replace the clip with 30fps version.
  • Can only extend each clip once (whether beginning or end). If need to extend both, just cut in the middle then extend beginning/end.
  • Best to use on RAW footage; do not color, stablize or apply any Effects until after extending
  • The minimum clip length to use AI Extend is 2 seconds
  • It can not be used on speed remapped clips so set Speed back to 100% then AI extend
  • It does work on slow-motion clips, after they have been Rendered & Replaced in 30fps or less
  • You can regenerate if you don't like the initial effect
  • Due to copyright, clips with music can not be extended
  • Speech/narration can not be extended, it's more for sound effects & ambient sounds
  • Your media is not be used to train the AI model

With this being the 1st iteration of it, on the clips it does work on, it does a pretty fantastic job & really does generate natural looking video. It will be updated & expanded as time goes on but a pretty cool start!
